PROSE IN VIETNAMESE LITERATURE UNDER THE PERSPECTIVES OF GENRE PERFORMANCE

Abstract

In the study of the historical formation and development of the prose, we find various opinions regarding the naming of this genre. This genre has a complex appearance, status, and characteristics, with many similarities to other genres. The term "prose" has appeared early in literary research and specifically in genre studies. The entry "prose" is found independently in literary dictionaries, terminology dictionaries, and genre dictionaries in both the East and West, including Vietnam. Research and practice show that the prose truly is a unique genre with distinct characteristics, and from the perspective of genre performance, the prose is an independent literary form.
