THE SYMBOLIC MEANING OF MASCOTS FROM THE RESEARCH ON IDIOMS

Abstract

Surveying the symbolic meanings of some mascots from the research on idioms was resulted from interdisciplinary research between linguistics and cultural studies. Through a survey of Vietnamese idioms referring to mascots, the paper analyzes the two-way relationship of semantics and frequency corresponding to psychology, concepts and behavior in cultural life of Vietnamese people. Here, mascots were resulted from the interaction between cultural elements in social life.
