TOURISM IN SON LA PROVINCE AND LESSONS LEARNED ABOUT TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN MOUTAINOUS AREAS OF THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract

Son La province is gradually becoming a promising destination for tourism in the Northern Midlands and Mountains with famous sites such as: Moc Chau, Van Ho, Son La city. Especially, in 2022, Moc Chau - Son La National Tourist Area was voted as "Asia's Leading Regional Natural Destination" and "World's Leading Regional Nature Destination" at the World Travel Awards 2022 (WTA) in Oman. The highland land of the Northwest mountains increasingly attracts tourists who like to relax among beautiful nature, enjoy local specialties and discover the unique cultural values of the community. Thanh Hoa province boders the north of Son La province. The mountainous area of Thanh Hoa has many similarities with Son La province in terms of natural and cultural conditions. Therefore, tourism in Son La province gives us lessons learned about tourism development in Thanh Hoa.
